Working in a group of four, our chosen project topic was 3 Point Lighting. We started off by researching the basics and history of the subject and used our fond information to write a script of what the narrator was going to say throughout the short film.
At the beginning of production we had a few set-backs, we booked out the Arri 650 and the cove from 2pm till 6pm, however when we got to the desk they told us it had been booked out to someone else. So, we had to wait until it got dark to film in Amy’s front room – luckily she had a white sheet hanging in her front room, making it look a little bit more professional.
We were also given faulty LED Panels with one of the batteries name called ‘buzzing’, which then completely stopped working while in the middle of filming. Peter then had to drive back to his house to pick up his smaller lights he recently purchased. This set us back at least an hour and a half. The smaller lights would not fit onto the LED light tripod so Lydia had to hold it while filming.
We decided to give our narrator a personality and a character background to give the video more of a lifelike and humorous effect, which included wardrobe, hair and make-up and voice.
We worked together on the script, character looks and personality, scene creations, setting up equipment, and working together after planning with 4 people on the crew and ending up with only 3 for the filming process.
The editing process went smoothly as we all had an idea of how we wanted the film to look and worked to the best of our capability with what we had to work with. We are all pleased with the outcome and the teamwork put in to make this film.
We completely changed our idea after research and throughout production. At the begging we gave our self a role each, however we all helped and learned from each other in the different roles, backing up each other’s ideas and helping where necessary.
